AirTouch video tutorials
Six short walkthroughs that take AirTouch from a fresh install to a setup that feels like an input device. Camera framing, camera tuning, gesture mapping, cursor and scroll speed, the advanced settings, and the proximity trigger. Every video has its transcript on this page.
The short version: install AirTouch, frame your camera so a quarter to a third of your torso fills the view, raise an open palm to move the cursor, and pinch your index finger and thumb to click. Everything after that is tuning: map the other gestures to the actions you want, set mouse speed so you can reach the edges of your screen, and turn on the advanced settings your room needs, such as AutoZoom at a distance or Support Color Glove for gloved hands. Most people are working inside five minutes.

How should I position my camera for AirTouch hand tracking?
Sit so that roughly a quarter to a third of your torso fills the camera frame, with only your upper body in view. If you are right-handed, sit slightly left of center so your dominant hand lands mid-frame. If you are left-handed, sit slightly right. You should be able to reach every edge of your screen without your hand leaving the camera view. If AirTouch shows the Hand Too Close message, move back or reduce the camera zoom.
Steps
- Frame a quarter to a third of your torso, upper body only.
- Right-handed: sit slightly left. Left-handed: sit slightly right.
- Check you can reach all four edges of the screen without leaving the frame.
- Hand Too Close message: move farther away, or reduce the camera zoom.
- Prefer automatic framing? Turn on AutoZoom in Advanced Settings.
- AutoZoom earns its keep past about two meters, or with several people in view.

Where are the camera settings in AirTouch?
Camera settings live under File then Camera Settings, where you can manually crop, rotate, and flip the feed vertically or horizontally. The Camera Properties button inside that panel opens your camera's own controls: zoom, hue, brightness, sharpness, contrast, and saturation, depending on the model. Those changes apply to the camera itself, so they carry over to any other application using it.
Steps
- File, then Camera Settings, for manual crop, rotation, and flip.
- Click Save and Close to keep a change.
- Camera Properties opens brightness, contrast, sharpness, and saturation.
- The preview updates as you drag, so tune by eye.
- Click Apply, then OK.
- Default restores the camera's original values.

How do I map an AirTouch gesture to a keyboard shortcut?
Open File then Settings, select your profile, choose the gesture, pick Keyboard shortcut as the action, and type the shortcut exactly as you would press it, for example CTRL+L. Click Save, close the settings window, then test the gesture. The Default button restores the original mappings. Open Palm is the one gesture you cannot reassign, because it always moves the cursor.
Steps
- File, then Settings, and confirm which profile you are editing.
- Pick the gesture, pick the action, click Save.
- For a shortcut, choose Keyboard shortcut and type it as you would press it.
- Close the settings window before testing.
- Default restores every original mapping.
- Next Profile switches profiles with a gesture.
- Mouse Up repositions your hand the way you would lift a physical mouse.

How do I change cursor speed and scroll speed in AirTouch?
Mouse speed, scroll tick delay, and double-click delay sit under File then Settings, below the gesture keybinds. Raise mouse speed if you cannot reach the edges of the screen, lower it if the cursor overshoots. A higher scroll tick delay scrolls slower and a lower one scrolls faster. Double-click delay sets the window you have to tap twice within, and setting it to zero makes a double-click close to impossible.
Steps
- File, then Settings, and scroll past the keybind list.
- Mouse speed: higher means more cursor travel for less hand travel.
- Map a gesture to Mouse Wheel Scroll before you can scroll by hand.
- Hold that gesture and move your hand up or down. Open palm stops it.
- Scroll tick delay: lower is faster.
- Double-click delay: keep it above zero.

What do the AirTouch advanced settings do?
Advanced Settings holds four controls. AutoZoom detects the first person to raise a hand and crops the camera view around them, which helps at distance or with several people in frame. Support Color Glove lets AirTouch track a blue, green, or purple glove instead of a natural skin tone. Ignore Eye Gaze, when enabled, lets you gesture without looking straight at the camera; with it disabled, you look at the camera first, which cuts down on accidental activations. Hand Raise Action fires a keyboard shortcut the moment a raised hand is detected.

- File, then Advanced Settings.
- AutoZoom: crops around the first person to raise a hand.
- Support Color Glove: on for blue, green, or purple gloves. Off by default.
- Ignore Eye Gaze: disabled means the user looks at the camera before a gesture registers.
- Hand Raise Action: fires a shortcut the moment a hand goes up.
- Save and Close, then test.

How do I make a screen react when someone walks up to it?
Proximity Trigger fires a keyboard shortcut when someone approaches the camera. Open File, choose Advanced Settings, set Proximity Trigger to Keyboard shortcut, type the shortcut you want, and click Save and Close. Proximity Trigger Area sets how much of the frame a person's head has to fill before it counts, so you decide how close is close enough.

Questions about setup
Do I need any special hardware to follow these tutorials?
AirTouch works with any standard RGB camera: a built-in webcam, a USB camera, or most IP cameras. There is no depth sensor requirement for typical use. Aim for 20 FPS or higher; below 15 is worth troubleshooting.
Which operating systems do these tutorials apply to?
The recordings are made on Windows. AirTouch runs on Windows, Linux, and Android today, with macOS on the way, and the settings shown here work the same way across the supported platforms.
How long does it take to get AirTouch working?
Installing and pointing a camera takes about five minutes in most setups. Camera framing and gesture mapping, the two videos that matter most for how it feels, take a few minutes more.
Can AirTouch track a gloved hand?
Support Color Glove, in Advanced Settings, lets AirTouch track a blue, green, or purple glove rather than a natural skin tone. It is off by default. Unusual lighting or an unusual glove color may call for a specialized camera, so test on your own setup first.
Do I have to write any code or install an SDK?
AirTouch maps gestures to mouse, keyboard, and touch input at the operating system level. If an app responds to a click, it responds to AirTouch. There is nothing to integrate.
