Here is the short answer. A Zoom Room or Teams Room can go touchless when the room runs on a Windows PC: AirTouch installs on that machine and turns hand gestures into the mouse, keyboard, and touch input the room's apps already understand, so you can present, annotate, and whiteboard from anywhere at the table. Rooms built on locked-down appliance hardware are the exception, and there the gesture layer runs on the presenter's connected laptop instead. Here is how it works and how to set it up.

 

Can a Zoom Room or Teams Room be touchless?

It comes down to what runs the room. Windows-based room systems can install software, so AirTouch runs beside the meeting client and drives it like any other app: join with a gesture, advance slides, move the cursor across shared content, draw in the whiteboard. Appliance-based rooms with a closed OS cannot install Windows software, so in those rooms the practical pattern is the presenter's laptop, connected to the display and running the gesture layer itself. What does gesture control add to a meeting room?

  • The clicker retires. Slides advance on a swipe from wherever the presenter sits or stands, with no dongle to find and no batteries to die mid-pitch.

  • Annotation from the table. Point to move the cursor on the wall display, pinch to draw over shared content, without walking to the screen or hunching over the room console.

  • A whiteboard anyone can drive. The whiteboard apps built into Zoom and Teams respond to touch input, which is exactly what AirTouch sends in touch mode. The wall display behaves like a giant touchscreen nobody touches.

  • One less shared surface. The room console and shared peripherals collect a lot of fingers. Gesture control removes touches instead of scheduling more cleaning.

 

Does it work with the room's video bar?

Most video bars present themselves to the room PC as standard USB cameras, which AirTouch can read like any webcam. In many setups one camera can serve the room; the bulletproof configuration for a busy room is a second inexpensive webcam dedicated to gesture tracking, aimed at where presenters actually stand, while the video bar keeps framing the call. Either way, patented intent detection is what makes gestures safe in a room full of talking hands: it locks onto the person deliberately controlling the screen and filters out the rest, in most setups. How do you set it up?

On a Windows-based room: install AirTouch on the room PC, point it at the room camera or the dedicated webcam, pick the display it should control, and map any room-specific shortcuts, like mute or slide navigation, to gestures from the 15-gesture library. Setup takes about five minutes in most cases, and Display and Camera settings are global, so the room's geometry stays put across gesture profiles. Then run one real meeting with it.
